Fair warning: Future Teens is about to become your favorite band.
“Emotional Bachelor,” their new single out today, was one of the first songs that they finished for their forthcoming Triple Crown Records/Take This To Heart Records debut, due out later this year.
Almost confessional in nature, “Emotional Bachelor” sees vocalists Amy Hoffman and Daniel Radin trading verses, expertly capturing the apathy you feel while doing dumb things that you know probably aren’t good for you and recounting the things you probably shouldn't have said. It’s the kind of song that stays stuck in your head for days, picking up right where their 2017 breakout album Hard Feelings left off.
No one has ever documented the awkward shame of texting someone in the middle of the night, earnestly or otherwise, quite like Future Teens do on “Emotional Bachelor.” You can almost hear the sound of the facepalm when Hoffman and Radin brilliantly harmonize “it’s 3AM and I just asked if you want to grab lunch.”
With little aspiration outside of playing a Fourth of July BBQ years ago, Future Teens officially formed in 2014. In the subsequent years the band wrote and released more songs, steadily growing more serious about their goals. In 2017, they released Hard Feelings, their debut album full of unforgettable moments of romantic misadventure, miscommunication and mistakes.
